How can I get involved in judging at three event tournaments?

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

In the sport of barefoot waterskiing we welcome all skiers from beginners to professionals to take the step beyond just being a skier and get involved at the tournaments. In order to start the process to become a bare foot 3 event judge if you haven’t already take the time to familiarize yourself with short hand symbols and trick guidelines. Be sure to focus on the basic tricks and starts such as toe holds, tumble turns, back deeps etc. Before your next local tournament get in touch with your tournament director and if you don’t know how to get in contact with your regional director to get the information. (click here http://barefoot.org/index.php) Let them know you are interested in getting involved in 3-event judging and would like to get in the boat for an event. The first time you are in the boat may seem like a blur so don’t focus on perfection. Review your sheets with the boat judges to better understand what is credit and what isn’t. At the end of the day talk with either your tournament director or regional director about attending a judging clinic. They are usally held yearly. For extra practice watch tournament run videos and judge them at home. Then you are well on your way to becoming a rated judge.
