David Baranowski: New to Competition

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014

My name is David Baranowski and I live in Philadelphia. I started barefooting in 2006 when I bought my first ski boat, my wife thought it was cool to watch but didn’t want anything to do with it except drive for me, she then sent me to Florida for some training and I was addicted to it even more.

I started to learn tumbles and then on to 1 foots, what a blast learning them, I went to a clinic with Keith St. Onge for a day and wow was it awesome, so this year I ran a clinic with Keith and worked on back ones that I’m having such a hard time with, but was determined to get them. I am going to do my first tournament at the eastern regionals in Pennsylvania and my goal is to do all four tumbles to one and to front toes. I cannot wait to get to the wbc and ski my butt off and work as hard as I can to make myself and the WBC proud.

Keith St. Onge here…

I have been doing barefoot water ski instructional clinics all over the world since 1999. Every year, I fly from one location to the next all summer long. This year, my fiance, Lauren Lindeman and I will be Barefooting Across America doing the Anytime Fitness National Tour from May 15 to September 15.

It has always been a dream of mine to travel across country via RV.  I grew up traveling thousands of miles to tournaments all throughout New England as a young man.  I discovered that meeting people at grass root events made the biggest impact on me and others.  This tour is a way for me to meet more people and help others learn, as I pass through their town or city!

Lauren and I will be visiting over 30 cities on our clinic stops.  That doesn’t include what’s in between, but we look forward to the adventure!

We plan on visiting Niagara Falls, which I have never seen before so I’m excited about that!  We may have a clinic just five miles down river from there…fingers crossed.

The tournaments and events we plan on visiting and skiing in will be:

-La Porte, IN Figure 8 on June 25th
Wisconsin State Show Ski tournament in Wisconsin Rapids on July 22nd-24th
-Figure 8 on Lake St. Louis, MO on July 30th
-Barefoot Water Ski Nationals in Waco, TX on Aug. 10th-13th
-National Figure 8 “FootStock” on Aug. 20th-21st
-WBC Invitational Open in Groveland, FL on Oct. 7th-8th
-WBC Figure 8 in Winter Haven, FL on Oct 22nd.

This is just a short list of what the summer will bring but we will keep you posted with pictures, articles and videos on the WBC Blog!
