WaterHawks Day 5

The 5th and final clinic day at the Waterhawks ski site.  Today we had 10 barefooters!  Five in the morning session and a completely different crew of five in the afternoon.  It was sweet! Checkout our morning footers!

Morning Barefoot Clinic Crew

Coy Roussell started us off for the day! First set Coy learned a front toe hold on the WBC shoe skis and by next set it was very close to getting it on his barefeet!  We started the process of going backwards and doing the back deep water start.  As many of you know there are TONS of steps to learning the back deep and in one set Coy was starting to come up! Awesome dude!

Want to meet a fast learner! Mitch Tauke learned to barefoot incrediable fast!  In just 2 sets he learned his front deepwater on the boom, then shortline and then on to the 10ft extention.  Keep it up Mitch and before you know it long line will be a breeze!

Ryan Ruhns already knew how to barefoot, but wasn’t getting up consistently.  Today we worked on a smooth transition from the deepwater to three point and then to standing up!  Ryan also learned to do a front one foot on the shoe skis.

After a nice smooth stand up!- RyanStrongman Front Toehold!

Jackson Twait hit the water for the very first time today!  Jackson learned a deepwater start on the boom.  Oh but thats is not all is also to let his feet glide across the water and did both front one foots! It’s rare but it happens and Jackson is better footing on just one foot than two! Great job!

David Lammers had attempted barefooting a few times in the past, today with a little bit of instruction he got is feet gliding!  From the barefoot swing to the deepwater start.  Checkout his great three point! Looking forward to seeing some video!

Blowouts and Falls

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

Lauren and I left the Oxbow Show Ski site on Sat. morning around 11:30am to head towards Niagra Falls for a few days of rest.  We knew we had a seven hour drive so we hoped to make it there Sat. evening so we could enjoy the falls all day on Sun. About five hours into our drive and as Lauren was driving we had a tire blowout!  Lauren freaked out as anyone would and within a few seconds she gained calmness and slowly pulled over to the shoulder.   As I began the process of getting out the lug nut wrench and so forth a off duty police officer stopped and asked us if we needed a hand.  He quickly asked us questions about our wrapped RV and what we do.  We explained to him we barefoot water ski and he instantly knew footers in the area.  I changed the flat in just over an hour.  Wow, those RV wheels have many lug nuts! Haha.

We arrived in Niagra Falls around 8:30pm and started walking towards the park in hopes to see the falls while it was still light out.  We were told by many to go to the Canadian side.  With passports in hand we did exactly that.  We walked over the massive bridge over Niagra River and entered Canada.  I told Lauren I would take her out for a nice dinner because we had deserved it. We were taken back by the beautiful site of the falls and an old lady told us the falls would be lit up from 9pm till midnight.  Lauren and I headed towards the huge tower where we were told to go.  We missed the fine dining by 15 min. but ended up looking over the falls as we ate dinner at the casino on the bank of the river. We got back to our house on wheels around 12:30pm and looked forward to sleeping in.  We woke up and proceeded to visit the falls on the American side and walked several miles around the gorgeous state park preserved for the public.

Being a Tourist in PA, for a Day!

We played tourist!

Our first stop Hershey, PA.  Mmmm the smell of the chocolate was mouthwatering.  We went on a tour through Chocolate World and learned about the entire

process of making the Hershey chocolate bar.  After the tour we walked through the store with walls of candy, it was spectacular.  On our way out of

town we waved goodbye to Hershey Kiss street lights.

Visiting Hershey PA

Not to far a drive and we visited the city of Landcaster and then onto the Amish Villages.  The tour informed of of the Amish way of life as we toured

through an old house.  It is a simple way of life that is extremely home and family oriented.  It’s a nice refresher to realize you can be perfectly

happy with family and the bare neccesities.  Life doesn’t have to be complicated like we make it out to be a good majority of the time.  Keep life

simple, be happy!

Valley Forge National Park is located near the clinic site of our next tour stop.  We jumped on our bikes and headed for the trail, half way across the

parking lot we heard a loud PPPSSSSSSSSSTTTTTT noise.  Keith’s bike had a flat tire.  We decided to run walk the park, it was nice to see all the

history and get a workout at the same time.  We are truely thankful for all those who have fought and are fighting for our FREEDOM! God Bless them all!

Maryville, TN Anytime Fitness National Barefoot Tour 2011

Keith St. Onge 2x World Champion and 11x National Champion travels the country teaching hundreds to barefoot waterski.  What better than the Smoky Mountians for a back drop?! It was a cool temperature clinic but we are not complaining because the wind was minimal and the lakes were like butter!

Channel 8 News came out for an interview! Here is a picture of the new crew filming Keith, Nate with the camera is amazed!

Thank you to Rusty and Kelly for allowing us to park the Anytime Fitness Tour Bus at your house, you were great hosts.  Kelly didn’t get a chance to foot this trip but before we know it she will move on from the barefoot swing and show us her stuff. Check out Rusty’s tricks on the water!

It's Lucky if a Butterfly lands on you, even more so if on your NOSE!

Tina McKeehan is amazing!  Tina learned to barefoot last summer and is improving quickly.  Like many women Tina is the only female skier in the area, but those men better watchout because she is on the road to pass them up!

Mark Johnson AKA Claw Foot/Bear Claw has success with his back deep! Yippie! Determination is the best word to discribe Mark Johnson.  When he wants something he goes for and nothing is going to stop him, not even a raw swollen chin;) As many of you know learning a backdeep can be a process to figure out, once it is understood it is as easy as pie.  We predict that Mark will be gliding along with ease this summer! Keep it up!

Keith Willocks or you may know him better by Willy was skiing up a storm in Tennessee!  Keith is a solid barefooter but always striving for more.  Its early in the season and Keith has already started working on turns.  If the he works hard and does some dry land practice he will be spinning like a top!
